Undersea, Hyperbaric & Diving Medicine
Our practice offers comprehensive specialized expertise in undersea and hyperbaric medicine, providing diving medicine evaluations for commercial divers, public safety divers (such as firefighters and police officers), scientific divers, and recreational scuba divers. We offer evaluation, treatment, and guidance for patients who may benefit from hyperbaric oxygen therapy or require other medical care related to undersea and hyperbaric medicine.
Undersea and hyperbaric medicine is a highly specialized field that harnesses the therapeutic power of oxygen to support healing at the cellular level. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) delivers 100% oxygen in a carefully controlled, pressurized environment, enabling oxygen to reach tissues with greater efficiency. This enhanced oxygen delivery stimulates the body's natural healing mechanisms, promotes the formation of new blood vessels, reduces inflammation, supports immune function, and supports tissue repair. Each treatment plan is thoughtfully tailored to the individual's condition and delivered under the close supervision of physicians with specialized expertise in undersea and hyperbaric medicine.
As an evidence-based therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is recognized for its role in managing a range of complex and often difficult-to-treat conditions, including chronic nonhealing wounds, radiation-induced tissue injury, compromised grafts and flaps, refractory bone infections, sudden sensorineural hearing loss, carbon monoxide poisoning, and decompression illness. Whether integrated into a multidisciplinary treatment strategy or used as a primary intervention, hyperbaric medicine offers a specialized approach to restoring tissue health, enhancing recovery, and improving clinical outcomes. Our commitment is to provide exceptional, physician-led care that combines advanced technology with the highest standards of safety, precision, and personalized attention.
We offer comprehensive diving-related medical services to commercial divers, public safety divers (including police, fire, and environmental personnel), scientific divers, recreational divers, and student diver candidates
You do not need to be a member of our concierge medicine program to receive these services.
Our services include:
Regular, mandated diving medical evaluations for current professional-level divers (commercial, public safety, and scientific divers), recreational, and student diver candidates.
Evaluation of divers who have experienced diving-related injuries, accidents, or illnesses.
Comprehensive diving medical evaluations, including on-site ECG, laboratory services, spirometry, and, coming soon, on-site audiograms. Some services can be arranged in advance.
Chest X-rays, other imaging services, and specialized testing are available nearby through our Yale New Haven Health affiliation partners.
